The buildings and cafes are bustling with energy and their mellow hues are soothing to the eyes and match the sights perfectly. The feel of the old town is eminent with charming ancient streets spanning from north to south of Place Foch which leads out to the seafront via the old port.

The Place de Gaulle is what shapes the town centre. The Cours Napoléon is just within reach and with a line of stylish shops and brasseries. Make sure to visit Maison Bonaparte, Musée Capitellu, Musée Fesch, and the Citadel.

If you love strolling at the produce market, drop by at the Place César-Campinchi in the morning. You will enjoy and have a taste of the local life during this visit.

The lovely beaches of Ajaccio are a must-see. Go to the seafront promenade along Route des Sanguinaires to enjoy the view minus the crowd. If you want to see the islands, you can take boat trips run by the Nave Va, which will take you to Porto, Calanches, and Bonifacio.

The Les Millelli is one of the Bonaparte family’s country homes. It is located northwest of Ajaccio. It is a simple 18th century building with nearby botanical gardens and terraced olive grove which overlooks the gulf. Within the area are several chateaux ruins.

A short drive from the town centre is the breathtaking lush green ridge hills known as the les Crêtes. Also visit A Cupulatta, a tortoise park located in the village of Vero, about half an hour away on the N193. The park is home to about 150 species of tortoises and turtles.

Drive through the villages of Porticcio, Zicavo, and Bastelica. And don’t miss Filitosa, a prehistoric site in the southern part of Ajaccio.
