The northwest Italian city of Cuneo rests at the base of the Maritime Alps, making it an ideal base to explore some truly breathtaking mountainous landscapes. Scenic SP22:
southeast of the town’s airport is Highway SP22, which travels through an unspoiled valley. As you drive along this road, you can’t help but feel inspired by the stunning mountainous beauty that flanks both sides of the highway. Keyboard Sport and Vacanza provide facilities to rest your motorhome, and further west along the highway, you will come to the convenient Camping Il Castagneto.
Maritime Alps National Park:
surrounded by pristine alpine landscapes, this national park is where you can explore some of Italy’s most astonishing countryside. Magnificent views of the majestic Alps are found here, particularly in the summer months. Camping Valle Gesso is extremely popular among motorhome travellers, and so too is the site at Karstrom Anna Pernilla.
About the airport
Cuneo Airport is an international aviation center that serves the picturesque region of Piedmont, in northern Italy. It is often regarded as the second airport in the area, behind the larger facility serving Turin. Just over 200,000 passengers pass through the terminal gates each year. They mostly arrive from domestic destinations like Cagliari and Trapani, although there are daily flights organized by Air Arabia Maroc to Casablanca and Blue Air to Bacau.
Several car hire companies operate at the ground floor of the terminal. Passengers may pick up a motorhome at the airport. The facility is situated upon the SP20 highway, which runs parallel to the A6. Driving to Turin can be done in about an hour, thanks to the well-maintained and well-signposted highways around the area.
