Recommended campervan rental drives in Granada

First off, you must see the The Alhambra. That’s a given, as mentioned earlier. Easily one of the most visited and most important places in Granada itself, which was once a palace, citadel, and fortress. Reservations are required due to the amount of visitors allowed, so seriously book in advance if you want the full tour.

If you are one who wants to enjoy true Spanish culture, take your RV around the city of Granada itself before heading off. If you want to relax before going on an adventure, stop and experience the famous Hammam Arab Baths. However, if you want to make this a serious historic journey, then head to straight to the Santo Domingo Church which was founded in 1512. Make your way from there to Federico García Lorca Museum, created in 1920. From there, take a stroll through the gardens of Carmen de los Mártires, where hundreds of others do each week and see the Moorish architecture and landscapes.

Also, do not forget to see the Cathedral of Granada, Royal Chapel, and Plaza Nueva. All of these sites attract thousands of visitors each year for an obvious reason – they are incredibly gorgeous and are an architecture lovers dream. Most people will usually leave here to places like Cordoba, which is a few hours drive and is known for its architecture and archaeological sites. Also, depending on the weather, many head to the Sierra Nevada mountains for hiking or skiing.

Granada has many famous and unique RV drives throughout the Spanish countryside. Remember to bring a bunch of water, sunscreen, and your relaxed driving skills like everywhere else in Spain. One of the most famous is the Autovía A-92, starting in Seville and making its way to Almería. It spans 392 km (244 mi). Also, you have the Autovía de Sierra Nevada (Autovía A-44) spanning 190 km (120 mi), starting in the famous city of Motril and finding its way all the way to Bailén. During its journey it passes through the great city of Granada, where one can choose to either go north towards the countryside or south to the ocean. One of the most important and unique parts of this drive is that it goes through the Sierra Nevada mountains and goes over the Puerto del Suspiro del Moro. This is a very historic and famous mountain pass worth the journey itself.

About the airport

Federico García Lorca Airport, otherwise known as Granada Airport, services over 700,000 passengers a year to many different destinations. It is 9 miles from Grenada itself, but services other cities in the area such as Santa Fe and Chauchina, Spain and the entire area of the region known as La Vega del Geni. Though a very new and modern looking airport, it actually had its first flight in 1911 and had an aerodrome built for military activity during the war with Morocco.

In 1929 it began to have civilian routes reaching other Spanish cities like Seville but began being used for military war again in the civil war. In 1946, it became what it is today. Since then it has been used for domestic and international traffic. Though only having one runway it can hold over a million passengers per year happily. It has many different airlines reaching many different places. The current airlines being served here are: Ryanair, Air Europa, Iberia, Blu-Express, Transavia France, Vueling Airline and Spanair.
