Seeing as how Orlando is directly in the middle of Florida it is so easy for one to go in any direction and discover beauty on your RV holiday. Aside from thinking about gorgeous beaches in Florida, one of the things people often think about is swamps. When it comes to swamps, the best place around is the Everglades. Take the 80-mile paved road trip through the Everglades National Park. Obviously watch out for alligators and other wildlife on the road.

Another journey is to take County Road 510 on State Road A1A on a 166 miles long trip through the Indian River Lagoon that is home to over 4,000 species. Also, the 120 mile long River of Lakes Heritage Corridor is full of old citrus groves and other historic scenery that is great for those wanting a beautiful landscape as a backdrop. However, if forests and that sort of nature aren’t your thing, the beaches are only 90 minutes away on the Atlantic side. World famous Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach are only a little over an hour away from Orlando. Also, the Gulf Coast beaches on the other side of Florida are about 2 hours away and are just as pristine. One can drive this way to see Treasure Island, Caladesi Island State Park, and Siesta Key.

Orlando International Airport serves dozens of different destinations, it is obvious why it is the 13th-busiest airport in the United States. Beginning as a military airfield known as Orlando Army Air Field #2 in 1942, it has transformed into the megahub it is now over the last 70+ years. It hosted many different aircraft’s and military activities in many different wars until the 1960s when it first became a civil-military facilities. In this time period, jetliners like the Boeing 707 needed longer airports and were used here. More passengers mean bigger airports for bigger airplanes, hence why they chose here. It provided a perfect place for expansion.

It wasn’t until 1975 however that it became a civilian only airport. At the moment it currently has 2 different terminals for over 20 different airlines. Many of these airlines reach all over the world taking people as far as Iceland, Panama, and even Germany!
